Away from the bustling crowd of the Annapurna treks, lies the serene and quaint trek of Mardi. The Mardi Himal/Fishtail Himal trek is a relatively new trekking trail that offers the best experience of the Annapurna region. The trek revolves around the magnificent Mardi Himal and it will take you through the small Gurung settlements and teach you something about the meaning of life in the laps of nature.
The Mardi Himal stands at an elevation of 5563m, and it sits in the majestic Annapurna Conservation Area. In the Mardi Himal Trek, you get to witness the glory of the Annapurnas along with the brilliant displays of the Machhapuchhre (6997m). The trek takes you on a whirlwind journey that commences from Pokhara at a distance of 200 km from the capital, Kathmandu.The trek briefly guides you on the amazing Buddhist cultures and traditions of the people of Kaski, Myagdi, and Lamjung. Along the Mardi Himal Trek, you meet people of Brahmin, Chhetri, and Tamang communities. The lowest elevation in the trek is Pokhara, which is 820 m. As we venture ahead, we arrive at the highest elevation in the trek, which is the High Camp at 4600. The beginning and ending parts of the trek is relatively easy, whereas the middle parts involve lots of climbing and walking. On average, you have to walk for 7 hours a day. The weather here is pretty frosty, and the best time to explore these parts are autumn and spring.
