The Langtang region is the most easily accessible travel region from the capital Kathmandu, as it just sits north of Kathmandu. The Langtang region garners the attention of both trekkers and pilgrims alike as it comprises of the mighty Langtang National Park and the serene Gosainkunda Lake which is accompanied by other small lakes. As you take the Gosainkunda trek, you'll be blessed with the opportunity to pray in the tranquil waters of Gosainkunda. In the peak of winter, the lake completely freezes and it bears a great resemblance to an icy gem. This region is home to the centuries-old ancient monasteries like the Shin Gompa and Kyanjin Gompa, which provide the travelers with an insight into ancient Buddhism. Take the Tamang Heritage Trek and explore the culture and traditions of the people of Tharepati, Phedi, Syabru, with slight glimpses of Tibetan culture as well. As you explore the various villages, you’ll be blessed by astounding views of mountains like Langtang Lirung (7227m), Langtang Ri (7205m), Yala Peak (5500m), and Tserko Peak (4984m). These peaks are ideal choices for mountaineering adventures as well. The Langtang region sits in the upper Himalayas, so the terrain there is mostly rocky with sparse or no vegetation. The best time to visit the Langtang region is September-November and March-May.
