The Upper Mustang motor biking trip takes you through the glorified north-western region of Nepal where you will explore the amazing districts of Manang and Mustang. The biking journey will lead you along the banks of the Kaligandaki and Marsayangdi rivers. This biking trip is of the highest caliber and explores the amazing cultural ambianceoffered by Thakali and Gurung communities. Venture into the minor settlements of Ghami, Tatopani, and Kagbeni as well. Exploring these parts will give you an idea about Tibetan-Buddhism. The biking trail sees the lowest altitude while at Pokhara at 820 meters. As you ride your way the rocky and arid terrain, you'll arrive at the highest altitude of Lo Manthang at 3840 meters. The biking trip requires the ability to ride at adverse terrain so high skill level is required. If you want to take the Upper Mustang biking trip, then it is advised that you do the trip in the season of autumn and spring due to the amazing weather and scenery. You are advised to wear protective gear and clothing.

You can also undertake the Jomsom Muktinath Trek, Annapurna Circuit Trek, and Annapurna Base Camp Trek in the trails near to the Upper Mustang motorbike trip. Regardless of your choice, the journey will be undoubtedly memorable.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive At Kathmandu (1300m)
A company representative will receive you on your arrival in Nepal for the motorbike trip to Upper Mustang. After the unpacking at your hotel in the capital, you can head to the intricate alleys and lively markets nearby. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley on a Private Vehicle
Today, we explore the major UNESCO world heritage sites in the Kathmandu valley.With Swayambhunath leading the tour, you head to the historic courtyards of Kathmandu Durbar Square. Shortly followed by a visit to the Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, the tour ends at Boudhanath Stupa.These sites are the prime examples of the cultural heritage of the Kathmandu Valley and contain some of the finest craftsmanship and architectures within their premise. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara by Private Vehicle (7 Hours/ 820m)
Wake up early in the morning and venture on a journey that leads all the way to Pokhara. The drive goes all around the ups and downs of the Prithvi Highway and we go through settlements of Mugling and Aanbhu Khaireni making brief stops on different occasions. The roadshows amazing scenery of the Trishuli River and its nearby hills. Overnight stay at a hotel in Pokhara.

Day 04: Ride from Pokhara to Kalopani. (6 Hours/2530m)
We wake up early and, after having breakfast, commence our ride towards Kalopani. The road is partially blacktopped and the remaining parts are completely off-road. The off-road parts are dusty so, better brace yourself. The road provides amazing scenery of the snow-laden mountains of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and Machhapuchhre ranges. After riding for a few hours, we will arrive at Kalopani. Overnight stay at Kalopani.

Day 05: Ride from Kalopani to Muktinath and Back To Kagbeni (5-6 Hours/ 2810m)
After having breakfast at Kalopani, we ride along the Kali Gandaki River and observe amazing scenery of the Himalayan ranges like Annapurna, Nilgiri, and Dhaulagiri. We can see mud houses and dark alleys at Kagbeni. After staying there for a while, we will head to the holy Muktinath temple which sits an hour away from Kagbeni. Visit the temple and later head back to Kagbeni. Overnight stay at Kagbeni.

Day 06: Ride Kagbeni to Ghami (7 Hours/ 3520m)
The road to Ghami is one of the most exhilarating ones and it shall provide you an unforgettable experience. We will cross rocky trails and observe Tibetan-themed houses and settlements. Passing Chhusang, Chele, and Syanbochen, we head to the settlement of Ghami. The ride is sure to be tumultuous one as you ride over arid trails with little human company. Overnight stay at Ghami.

Day 07: Ride From Ghami to Lo Manthang (6 Hours / 3840m).
Today we will enter the highly isolated region of Lo Manthang. The ride offers amazing scenery of the Annapurna, Tilicho, and Bhrikuti peak ranges. We cross the pass of Lo La at 3950 meters and observe the amazing walled cities of Lo Manthang. The exciting ride entails similar travel routes as we faced in recent days. With the views of Lo Manthang appearing and disappearing behind the majestic arid hills, we finally set foot on the gem of Tibetan culture. Overnight stay at Lo Manthang.

Day 08: Ride to Kora La (Tibetan Border) From Lo Manthang and Chooser Cave
Our trail leads us through sandy dunes, and amazing rock formations. We head to the Tibet border as well. It lies 20 km from the mainland of Lo Manthang and, although the distance may be short, the thrill experienced is unparalleled. We will make a small visit to the Chooser cave, and many other sky caves. After visiting these caves, we head back to Lo Manthang. Overnight stay at Lo Manthang.

Day 9: Ride Back to Geling (6 Hours / 3570m)
As we drive ahead, we can get an amazing view of the Annapurna Mountains and get glimpses of the Tibetan plateau. With the option to explore Ghar Gompa, one of the oldest monasteries in the entire Upper Mustang, we can relish at the ancient architecture and culture depicted at the monastery. The road goes steep at Samar and heads downwards towards Geling. Overnight stay at Geling.

Day 10: Ride Back to Kagbeni (6 Hours / 2810m)
Today we return to Kagbeni, and, on the way, we also scout the amazing landscapes. Mostly descending along the familiar ups and downs, the ride first heads to Syanbochen as we cross numerous passes along the way. From there, the ride moves towards Tirigaon. At Kagbeni, the cold winds hit us, and we shall taste the local delicacies. Overnight in Kagbeni.

Day 11: Ride Back to Tatopani (6 Hours / 2530m)
The trail for the day leads us to the natural hot springs of Tatopani. The trail sees a decrease in altitude and can get slippery at times. We take a rest at Tatopani which is famous forthe natural hot water springs. Rejuvenate your tired body in its tranquil waters and rejuvenate for the journey that lies ahead. Overnight stay at Tatopani.

Day 12: Ride Back to Pokhara and Sightseeing (7 Hours / 820m)
From Tatopani, we shall head back to Pokhara. The ride will take a while and goes through the winding hilly roads. After some time, we arrive at Pokhara and have lunch there. We then follow with a sightseeing tour around the City of Lakes. Mahendra Cave, Bindyabasini Temple, and World Peace Pagoda are the popular sites in the city. The Davis Falls and Bat cave are also on our visiting list. Ending the day with a sunset view on the water of the Phewa Lake is also the perfect way to end the trip. Overnight stay at a hotel in Pokhara.

Day 13: Drive Back to Kathmandu by private car (6-7 Hours / 1300m)
From Pokhara, we wake up early and drive to Kathmandu. The drive shows you the ups and downs of a typical Nepali highway which include amazing scenery of the rivers, mountains, and green hills. The ride lasts for about 6 hours, and, upon arriving at the city, we can enjoy the minor stroll around the city. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 14: Free Day in Kathmandu
Today is a free day in Kathmandu and you can either explore the Kathmandu valley again or take some rest in your hotel. Bhaktapur and Patan Durbar square is appropriate for a tour whereas Nagarkot, Shivapuri, and Namobuddha are famous hiking trails. Take some time to do some shopping for souvenirs. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 16: Departure Home
After completing the marvelous motor biking trip to the Upper Mustang, today, you bid farewell to Nepal and head to your destination. A scheduled flight will take you over the Himalayas, officially marking the exit from Nepal.
