Everest Region
Travel fanatics vote Nepal as the must-visit place for trekking due to its possession of extremely thrilling and beautiful trekking regions. These trekking regions are spread throughout the country and vary greatly with one another. Among them, the Everest region is touted as the most enigmatic and appealing. The Everest region sits in northeastern Nepal and is home to some of the largest chains of mountains, crystal glaciers, and the Sherpa community that thrive in these icy parts.
Upon observing a map, you'll see that the Everest region is beautifully nestled between the huge shard of Kanchenjunga and the silent Langtang National Park. The major attraction of the Everest region is undoubtedly the Mt. Everest (8848m), which stands at a staggering height of 8848 meters. Trekkers drool at the mere thought of seeing Everest, but when they see other mountains like Cho Oyu (8188m), Lhotse (8414m), and Ama Dablam (6856m), they find themselves in a utopia. Buddhism is prevalent in the Himalayan region, and as you take the Everest Base Camp Trek, Everest High Passes Trek, or similar variants of the treks, you’ll visit the centuries-old monasteries of Tengboche built in 1916 by Lama Gulu with strong links to its mother monastery known as the Rongbuk Monastery in Tibet. The fluttering Chortens carry the hopes and prayers of people which many believe lead to heaven. Trek through the amazing villages of Namche, Phakding, Khumjung, Lobuche, and find the meaning of life in the rural areas of Nepal. Residing in the Everest region are the amazing Gokyo lakes, whose tranquil waters soothe the tired soul. Take the Gokyo lakes trek to explore these lakes and marvel at the sheer magnitude of them. The trails in the Everest region combine lush forests and rocky landscape with sparse or no vegetation. Besides trekking expeditions and peak climbing to peaks like the Mt. Everest (8848m), Lhotse (8414m), Ama Dablam (6856m), Island Peak (6189m), and Mera Peak (6461m) are also available in the region. Due to subzero temperatures, warm clothing is a must. The best time to visit the Everest region is from March to May or September to November.
A display of astounding Himalayas and Sherpa display awaits in the Everest region with plenty more which cannot be described in a few hundred words. Here, you marvel at the mesmerizing mountains and the remarkable Sagarmatha National Park to immerse into this magical realm.
