Located in distant Everest region, Gokyo lake treks has a lot to offer. Gokyo is home to Gokyo-Ri ridge and five glaciated lakes. Attractions in Gokyo Lake trekking include views of Nepal’s biggest Ngozumpa glacier and Cho Oyu Mountain. Gokyo Valley is one of the most beautiful valleys in Everest region.
Gokyo Lake trekking offers the combined experience of Gokyo Lake trek and Gokyo-Ri Trek. One of the busiest trekking routes in Khumbu region, this is the best alternative to Classical Everest Base Camp Route. Enjoy the close-up view of Everest without going through much stress. Gokyo-Ri is considered among the finest viewpoints in Everest which allows close-up views of Thamserku. Cho Oyu, Everest, Amadablam and other peaks and mountains. Gokyo-Ri is said to offer even more clear views than from Kalapattar.
Gokyo Lake trekking route follows least crowded areas. We will leave the main trekking trail towards Everest Base Camp from Sanasa and proceed through Dole to Machhermo. We will enjoy the view of Machhermo peak and visit Machhermo village which is said to be the land of abominable snowman named Yeti. We will visit the local monastery and observe the skull of yeti before continuing our journey to Gokyo Valley. Rejoice yourself in high altitude Lakes and glaciers before returning to Lukla from where we will catch a flight back to Kathmandu.
