Overview
Near the bustling settlement of Kathmandu, lies the isolated region of Langtang, which garners attention from the outside world for being the best hub to dwell the untainted wilderness. Embark on a milestone journey to traverse the grandiose peaks of the Langtang mountain range, and feel the absurd beauty of the revered Gosainkunda Lake, whose tranquil waters will definitely pierce your soul into an awakening.
The Langtang Gosainkunda Trek takes place in the astonishing Langtang National Park, which sits north of the Kathmandu valley. It covers an area of 1710 km2 and is deeply spread on the districts of Nuwakot, Rasuwa, and Sindhupalchowk. The trek explores the prevailing Tibetan Buddhism influenced the lifestyle of the people of Thadepati, Gul Bhanjyang, and Cholangpati. The residents in these parts are mostly Tamang, Brahmin, and Chhetri communities. Their culture is greatly depicted in their lifestyle. The trek commences at the lowest elevation point of Kathmandu, which is 1300m, and as the trek gradually takes place, we arrive at the highest elevation of the trek, which is 4984m at TserkoRi. On average, you have to walk for at least 7 hours a day, and the trail is relatively easy at first, but, later, becomes steep, slippery, and rugged. As the elevation increases, the vegetation disappears and transcends into the snow. Spring and autumn are the best time to explore these parts and as it is very cold here, warm clothing is mandatory.
The Langtang Gosainkunda trek is in itself an enigma, but if you want to explore further, you can take the Langtang Helambu Trek or the Langtang Valley Trek. If culture and traditions are your interest, then take the Tamang Heritage trek to satiate your thirst for adventure.
