The park covers an area of 7629 km2 and stretches through the districts of Manang, Mustang, Kaski, and Lamjung. The trek commences 200 km from Kathmandu at Pokhara, and it shows you the prevalent Buddhist culture of the inhabitants of Dovan, Chhomrong, and Tadapani. The ethnic people of these regions are mostly Gurung, Thakali, Bhotia, and it can be observed fully while taking the Annapurna Base Camp Trek. The lowest altitude in the trek is Pokhara at 820m, and as we venture ahead, the elevation gradually increases and you can see the landscape and vegetation transcending from greenery to rocky, and in some places frosty. Days are surprisingly warm whereas nights are relatively colder.
The Annapurna Base Camp Trek can be elongated as well. While trekking in Annapurna region, you can take the Jomsom Muktinath Trek, Ghorepani Poonhill Trek, or the Annapurna Circuit Trek.
